REFABSModular House Atelier

The commission

Four movements, one house.

From a first conversation to a house that is unmistakably yours: how a REFABS commission unfolds.

The brief

It begins with a conversation about how you live: mornings and evenings, guests and solitude, the land and the light. You can start alone in the atelier, at your own pace.

You bring
The way you live, your land or the place you imagine, the houses and rooms you have loved.
We bring
Questions that matter, and a first composition drawn from your answers.

Composed with you

Your house takes shape in three dimensions. You walk through it, move a wall, open a view, and see every change at once. Every decision stays visible, and yours.

You bring
Your reactions, your doubts and your second thoughts.
We bring
Craft, judgement and a house that answers each change.

Atelier precision

Once the composition is yours, the atelier takes over. Each element is made with care and finished to the standard of a fine interior, well before it reaches your land.

You bring
Patience, and a few final choices of surface and material.
We bring
The making, held to one idea from the first sketch.

Your house

Brought to your site and set in place, the house arrives as it was composed, considered down to the last detail.

You bring
Your land, ready to receive it.
We bring
The house you composed, and our care after you move in.

— What stays yours

Nothing is fixed until you say so.

You can pause, return, revisit an early idea or start a second version beside the first. The composition is yours to keep, whichever way you decide.

— Questions

Do I need land before we begin?

It helps to know where. If you are still looking, we can begin from the way you want to live and the kind of place you imagine, and return to the site when it is yours.

Can I change my mind along the way?

Yes. Composing is meant for changing your mind. Nothing is fixed until you say so, and you see the consequence of every change as you make it.

Is every house different?

Every house is composed for one person or family and one site. Two briefs never lead to the same house.

How do I see what the house will cost?

Every house is composed individually, and so is its budget. It takes shape alongside the design, so you always know where you stand.

Do I work with a person or with software?

With people. Our tools let you see and shape your house, but the commission is a conversation with the atelier from the first brief to the keys.

— Begin

The first movement is a conversation.

Start a private brief. Nothing is fixed until you say so.
